This is an authentic silver gelatin print of a portrait of New York Yankees’ Joe DiMaggio with New York Giants’ Willie Mays engaged in conversation. This photograph portrays Joe DiMaggio, (L) who was just voted to Baseball's Hall of Fame, passes on a few batting tips to Willie Mays, who's a slugger in his own right. Their meeting occurred at the 32nd Annual dinner of the Baseball Writers at the Waldorf Astoria tonight. Mays, Giant outfielder and last year's NL MVP, won the Scribes' Sid Mercer Award as "Player of The Year." His batting average last year was .345. He hit 41 homers and has a slugging average of .667. This photograph is in overall fine condition, showing signs of aging with a yellow reflective patina; It is signed ‘Joe DiMaggio’ and ‘Willie Mays’ on the center with a blue ink felt tip pen, and it is framed with double layered black and white mats in a gray laminated wooden frame.
Willie Howard Mays Jr. (b.1931), nicknamed "The Say Hey Kid", is an American former professional baseball center fielder. He spent almost all of his 22-season Major League Baseball career playing for the New York/San Francisco Giants before finishing his career with the New York Mets. Regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. Joseph Paul DiMaggio, nicknamed "Joltin' Joe" and "The Yankee Clipper", was an American baseball center fielder who played his entire 13-year career in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees. He is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time, and is perhaps best known for his 56-game hitting streak, a record that still stands; He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955.
