This one-of-a-kind memorabilia piece includes astronauts Neil Armstrong and John Glenn’s autographs written in black ink on two separate pieces of cardstock. The piece also includes a 1962 First Successful Orbital Flight Stamp & Envelope, a 1969 Man's First Landing On The Moon First Day Issue Stamp & Envelope 3 different official collectible NASA patches; one NASA logo patch, one for the Mercury-Atlas 6 (MA-6) and another for Apollo 11; as well as an original, numbered NASA C-Print of a portrait of astronauts John Glenn and Neil Armstrong in the Panama jungle during survival training in 1963. The photograph is numbered ‘NASA S-64-17968’ in the top right edge.
Mercury-Atlas 6 (MA-6) was the first American orbital spaceflight, which took place on February 20, 1962. Piloted by astronaut John Glenn and operated by NASA as part of Project Mercury, it was the fifth human spaceflight. After three orbits, The Mercury spacecraft, named Friendship 7 re-entered the Earth's atmosphere, splashed down in the North Atlantic Ocean. Total mission flight time was four hours 55 minutes and 23 seconds.
Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin formed the crew that landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969. Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface six hours and 39 minutes later on July 21, Aldrin joined him 19 minutes later. They spent about two and a quarter hours together outside the spacecraft, and 21 hours, 36 minutes on the lunar surface.
