When legislation passed allowing silver to be monetized again, the Morgan Silver Dollar was the first silver coin to be minted. It’s production ran from 1878-1904, and in 1921 when it was later discontinued.

The Morgan Silver Dollar is named after its designer George T. Morgan. Morgan, a U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver, created the left profile portrait of Lady Liberty that is featured on the obverse of the Morgan Silver Dollar. Lady Liberty is surrounded by 13 stars that represent the original 13 colonies of the U.S. Above her crowned head reads “E Pluribus Unum,” and under her profile is the year of mintage.

The reverse side features an early version of the heraldic eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch. Above the Eagle, “In God We Trust” is engraved in script. Beneath the eagle, the dollar amount is engraved.

apr57 cannot guarantee the years of individual coins, as the year is dependent on what we have in stock at the time of order. All coins will, however, be minted from 1878 to 1904.

The coins in this listing are all graded at MS63 by the Professional Coin Grading Service, meaning that the original luster might be slightly worn. MS63 coins may have numerous small contact marks visible on the coin’s surface, as well as a few scattered heavy contact marks.
