  • Description

For just the second time since 1988 when the 1/10 oz coin was introduced, it was not the top seller in the Proof American Gold Eagle collection in 2011. In what was the start of a new trend, the 1 oz gold coin took over as the first choice of many collectors buying the Proof American Gold Eagles. Right now, 2011 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles are available to purchase online from APR 57 with NGC certification.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives inside protective plastic slabs from the NGC!
  • 25th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle collection!
  • Limited availability within the original mintage of 42,697 coins!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Bears a face value of $5 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued a Grade of PF70 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • UCAM label included.
  • Lady Liberty stands confident and strong on the obverse.
  • American bald eagles are depicted on the reverse.
  • W mint marks.

Each of the 2011 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles available to you through this APR 57 product listing earned a PF70 certification from the NGC. Coins with a PF70 grade are considered perfect specimens with full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws present on the designs or surface areas.

The included UCAM label identifies the coins as ultra-cameo specimens. Coins with this designation have strong, frosted design elements overlaying a background field that is deeply-mirrored and clear.

The United States Mint set a mintage cap on individual 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins in 2011 at 30,000 coins. There were also an additional 40,000 coins available through the 4-Coin Proof Gold Eagle Set. While the individually issued coins sold out, the proof set did not and for just the second time in over 20 years, the 1/10 oz coin was not the top seller among the four coins.

On the obverse of American Gold Eagle Coins is the image of Lady Liberty. This design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and reimagined portraits of Liberty when compared to previous American coin designs. This image is distinctly American and portrays a strong image of Liberty.

The reverse side of 2011 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagles includes a design from Miley Busiek. Created in 1986, this design depicts a male eagle as it flies over the family nest. Contained within the nest are a hatchling and a female eagle.
