The Peace Silver Dollar is among one of US currency’s most memorable coins. It enjoyed two separate mintage periods with the first one occurring from 1921-1928 and the second one taking place from 1934-1935. Because both of its circulation periods were prior to the cessation of silver coinage, the Peace Dollar holds the distinction of being the last genuine “silver” dollar to be produced by the United States Mint with silver fineness of .900. Customers should note that all Silver Peace Dollar Coins featured in this collection are presently in “Cull” or extremely worn condition. While not particularly valuable as collectibles, such coins still derive significant value from their metal composition, consequently making them viable options for silver investments.

The Silver Peace Dollar is also considered significant due to its artwork, which was designed by artist Anthony di Francisci. As with its predecessors, the obverse of the Peace Silver Dollar features a portrait of Lady Liberty. However, Francisci chose to break with previously set convention, drawing inspiration from the actual Statue of Liberty. His depiction of Lady Liberty would be the first time that this celebrated figure would appear in her iconic “radiate” or multi pointed crown. Serving as a circular border around her image is an inscription that bears her name along with the coins mintage year. Also printed unto the obverse of the coin is the motto, “In God We Trust.”

In keeping with the patriotic motif of the coin’s obverse, Francisci chose to portray yet another American icon on the reverse side of the coin, the bald eagle. In this image, the national bird sits nobly perched atop a mountain summit with the word “peace engraved upon it. Its talons further emphasize this message as they hold a single olive branch. Illuminating the backdrop behind it are rays of sunlight, whose sharp points resemble those seen on Lady Libertys crown. Inscribed in an arched head above the eagle are the phrases “United States of America” and “E Pluribus Unum.”
