The Ulysse Nardin Brand
Ulysse Nardin was born in Le Locle, Switzerland in 1823. Ulysse was trained under his own father, Leonard-Frederic Nardin, and then William Dubois to became a watchmaker. Nardin founded the Ulysse Nardin company in 1846 in his home town of Le Locle. The watches exhibited high-quality workmanship and were signed by their maker. It was the beginning of an enterprise that has lasted more than 150 years. Since that time, Ulysse Nardin has won 18 international gold medals and 4,300 first prizes in chronometric distinction. Its many models, including its most iconic works, are housed within a four-pillar system for simple navigation: Marine, Functional, Exceptional and Classico. On February 20, 1876 Ulysse Nardin passed away. Due to the death of his father, 21-year old Paul-David Nardin takes over control of the company. By 1900, nine pocket chronometers fitted with tourbillon escapements were made by Paul-David. In 1915, at the Naval Observatory, Washington DC, Ulysse Nardin takes first place among 60 marine chronometers entered. In 1996, the company’s 150th Anniversary was celebrated with the introduction of the marine Chronometer 1846. The single-button chronograph “Pulsometer” to commemorate Ulysse Nardin’s birth in 1823 was introduced in 1998, yet this was eclipsed the following year when the firm debuted the GMT Perpetual, two unique and exclusive Ulysse Nardin creations integrated into one watch.Popular collections of Ulysse Nardin watches include the Executive Dual Time and Dual Time Lady GMT +/- , Lady Diver Starry Night & the Classico Collection.
