The artwork of the Silver American Eagle Coin serves as a testimony to the core values and beliefs of the American public. The obverse of the coin bears the celebrated “Walking Liberty” design of Adolph Weinman. In this image, Liberty is portrayed in a classically inspired toga, bearing the stars and stripes of the national flag. She is seen crossing an open field toward the rising sun. With one arm carrying a pile of laurel and oak branches and the other one extended in invitation, she embodies the compassion and generosity that this country demonstrates to those immigrating here for a better life. Further contributing to the beauty of the design are the frosted and reflective surfaces of its Deep Cameo finish.

The central design element of the reverse side is the Great Seal of the US. This iconic crest depicts a bald eagle, spreading its wings to their full span as they frame an oversized shield. Carried in its beak is a scroll with the words “E Pluribus Unum” inscribed upon it. In its opposing talons, it carries an olive branch as a symbol of peace and a bundle of arrows to represent the measures the country must take to ensure the preservation of that peace. Encircling the seal as a border are the coin’s weight, purity, denomination and country of origin.
