As a result of the global pandemic that reached American shores in February and March 2020, the West Point Mint was forced to reduce its staffing levels in late March to keep workers safe while continuing to coin additional 2020 American Silver Eagles to meet growing demand. To help boost the capacity of the US Mint, the Philadelphia Mint began coining 2020 American Silver Eagles as an emergency issue to meet the sudden surge in demand. This marked the first time the Philadelphia Mint had issued BU American Silver Eagles since 2000 and it would eventually produce 240,000 of the coins.

All of the 2020 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagles in this product listing come to you with a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins in Mint State 70 condition have full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind on the designs or background fields. Early Release labels mean the coins were received for grading within the first 30 days following release by the US Mint. Walking Liberty is featured on the obverse of 2020 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins in the same design created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. The depiction of the Liberty shows her figure in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon carrying branches of oak and laurel in her left hand while wearing the American flag over her shoulders.

The heraldic eagle of the United States is the primary design on the 2020 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins. This design is as old as the United States Mint itself, but has been modified several times throughout American history. This particular design was modified in 1986 by John Mercanti for use in the American Silver Eagle Series.
