A complicated but interesting story for lovers of aviator watches:
- In 1979, during the watchmaker crisis, Breitling was sold 'piece by piece'.
- Mr Ernst Schneider bought the Breitling brand and the logo, without the design rights, the brand thus stayed in the family.
- Helmut Sinn, the founder of Sinn watches, bought the stock of assembled watches and the design rights to the Breitling 806 and 809 Navitimer.
- Finally, Ollech and Wajs purchased the stock of separate components, tool, and design rights to models pre-1979. They then began to make watches, initially with Breitling component parts, then with parts made to Breitling specifications. These chronographs were made under the brand 'Swiss Engineer Chronograph'.
- Towards the mid-1980s the brand had disappeared, before being recreated by Albert Wajs around the mid-1990s. Albert Wajs currently has two product lines, military watches and still the 'Aviator' chronographs, made with new movements from stock.
