  • Description

A very beautiful Jules Jurgensen wristwatch in a solid gold tone. The watch is very beautiful, it has a gold tone dial with beautiful large gold style rectangular gold tabs with beautiful gold Arabic numbers imprinted on them. It has the gold matching hours in second hands. It has the date feature at three o'clock, has a beautiful original Jules Jurgensen movement. This watch was made circa 1970s when Jules Jurgensen was a very fine manufacturer of high-end Swiss watches. The watch is in absolutely brand new condition. It comes on an original aftermarket vintage gold tone stretch band. Besides this watch looking incredible in beautiful condition, what makes it unique is the fact that on the back,  is engraved "M. Zawaslich, 1973" and it says "Boak Grocery Men". So what happened was Boak was one of the premier supermarkets here in New York City. Many old timers still remember them. This was given as a gift to one of the managers who was retiring in 1973. We got this, we believe, from his widow. He worked there for approximately, supposedly 30 years, and he got this beautiful gold watch as a gift. So that really makes this cool. This is one of the last remaining supermarket chains in New York. They were in business for almost 100 years. This beautiful watch is in brand new condition. So in addition to getting a beautiful gold tone mint condition, gorgeous looking Jules Jergensen wristwatch from 1973, you are getting a beautiful watch that has a lot of historic significance based on who it was given to and the engraving. In addition, it comes in the mahogany box in brand new condition exactly as photographed.
Bohack's, a historic grocery store chain, began in 1887 when the first store opened in Brooklyn, New York, under the leadership of H.C. Bolton, later known as H.C. Bohack. A remarkable immigrant success story, Bohack, originally from Germany, arrived in the U.S. in 1882 and, within five years, owned his own grocery store. Over the next half-century, Bohack expanded his empire, creating stores across New York City and Long Island. His ambition extended beyond grocery stores; he ventured into gas stations and restaurants, creating an integrated business ecosystem. His food production warehouses supplied his restaurants, while his gas stations fueled delivery trucks. The Great Depression led to the closure of restaurants and gas stations, but the grocery stores persevered. H.C. Bohack passed away in 1931, and the business continued under his wife, Emma, and nephews, along with dedicated employees. At the time of his death, Bohack's network of 740 grocery stores was valued at $40 million, leaving an enduring legacy in U.S. retail and entrepreneurship.
