ITEM DESCRIPTION:

 Johannes Christiaan Karel Klinkenberg (1852–), a Dutch painter born in The Hague, specializes in town-views, skillfully depicting sunlight on house-fronts with a style reminiscent of his master, Christoffel Bisschop. Though influenced by Jan Weissenbruch's craftsmanship, Klinkenberg developed his own unique approach, appreciated for its popularity and clever portrayal of old buildings and canals. Known for his landscapes depicting beautiful scenes from the Netherlands, Johannes Klinkenberg was not known to paint many portraits. This unique, one of a kind, original painting is one of the only known works painted by Klinkenberg in this style. It is very rare that this artist paints nudes and to find one that is signed and in original condition is extraordinarily rare. Exquisitely framed, this painting appears to be in its original floral gold leaf period frame and original backing. The frame alone could retail upwards of $5,000. Well taken care of, this painting adds elegance to any room it sits in. Other work from Klinkenberg has sold for upwards of half a million dollars.
