BALSAM ABO ZOUR "Then, The Boy Ate The Apple" Oil on Canvas, 2020
"This was painted during the pandemic when I realized that a tiny virus could stop the world." - Balsam Abo Zour
The pandemic has taken the world by storm, and has left many artists struggling to create work as often as they were used to. On the other hand, many artists have taken that time upon themselves to truly put their creativity to work and create pieces that inspire across the globe. Artist Balsam Abo Zour did just that with this piece titled 'Then, The Boy Ate The Apple".

Born in Tannoura, Lebanon in 1982, Balsam Abo Zour grew up in Abey.  She trained under artists Mohammed Al Rawas and Fatima El Hajj while she completed her BFA at the Lebanese University of Fine Art.

"The act begins with an image charged with intense feeling.   A memory of it pulls on me.  Before the painting calls itself into being, textures first take shape with charcoal and pastel pencils.  My body greets the canvas with urgency." - Balsam Abo Zour
