ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Presented is a compelling piece of ephemera, a signed piece of paper featuring the names of two notable figures: Richard Halliburton (1900-1939), the renowned American travel writer and adventurer, famous for his daring exploits such as swimming the length of the Panama Canal in 1928. He is also known for mysteriously disappearing at sea in 1939 while attempting to sail the Chinese Junk Sea Dragon across the Pacific Ocean from Hong Kong to the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco, California and Henry R. Rittenberg (1879-1969), a distinguished artist recognized for his portraits of American dignitaries, including Attorney General Homer Stille Cummings and a significant group portrait depicting President Harry S. Truman alongside British politician Clement Attlee and Joseph Stalin at the Potsdam Conference of 1945. Rittenberg was also affiliated with esteemed organizations such as the National Academy of Design and the New York Society of Painters, and his works were showcased in prestigious exhibitions, including those at the National Academy and the Art Institute of Chicago.
