Although not legal tender, the new copper round is based on a very old 25 cent piece known as the Standing Liberty quarter. Made from 90% silver and 10% copper, the Standing Liberty quarter was first minted in 1916 when it replaced the Barber Quarter and continued to be minted until 1930.

The image on the face of the quarter as well as this new copper round is the unique interpretation of the Statue of Liberty as a goddess. Hence, the nickname for the image is Goddess Liberty. Holding a sword and shield, Lady Liberty truly is presented as the protector of freedom and liberty. Goddess Liberty certainly does strike an imposing figure and the amazing attention to detail allows her to truly appear captivating.

The reverse side of the round also presents recognizable imagery. The grand American Bald Eagle is proudly on display. Above his head is the American flag waving in the wind. Truly, the round does capture a sense of patriotism that was once very common on currency in previous generations.
