Proof American Gold Eagle Coins from the United States Mint have been available in fractional weights since 1987. The 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle was the first coin to debut in the fractional range, arriving in 1987. The 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins feature either a P mint mark from the Philadelphia Mint or a W mint mark from the West Point Mint.

All of the 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins available here are PF69 coins from the NGC. Considered near-perfect coins, these products have full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines, these flaws are found only outside the primary focal points.

The UCAM label denotes proof coins with strong, frosted matte design elements overlaying deeply-mirrored, clear background fields. APR 57 offers these 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagles with PF69 certification and UCAM labels from random years of issue. We cannot guarantee the date mark on the coin you receive. Likewise, we cannot guarantee a specific mint mark. 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagles from 1987 to 1993 have the P mint mark, while those struck from 1994 onward have the W mint mark.

On the obverse of 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins is the image of Lady Liberty. This particular design comes from 1907 and features a full figure of Liberty as she marches forward from the nations capital holding her bright torch overhead with an olive branch in her left hand.

The reverse side of 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagles features a design from Miley Busiek. Used exclusively on the Gold Eagle, it depicts a female eagle guarding a nest of hatchlings as a male eagle flies overhead.
