Item Description

Created by the internationally renowned artist Michel Delacroix (b. 1933), this lithograph piece renders a beautiful, dream-like Paris street scene with the "Moulin Rouge" positioned in the center of the image. Every detail in the work, clouds, shops, signs, pedestrians, etc., is depicted with impeccable precision, delicacy, and imagination. Produced from the original oil painting, there are only 100 original pieces of this lithograph edition created in the world, this piece is #29. The painting is estimated to be done around fourty years ago. It is hand-numbered by pencil'XXIX/C' on the lower-left corner, meaning '29/100' in roman number. It is hand-signed with pencil by the artist with his name 'Michel Delacroix' on the lower-right corner. The original owner spared no expense in professionally matting it with gold engraved inside, and framing in a hand-made gold-gilded wooden frame. The owner probably spent close to $3000.00 to get to piece professionally matted and framed. This piece is in excellent condition, and would make an exceptional display of the highest quality.

Michel Delacroix was born in Paris, France, in 1933. He was educated at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. After two years, he interrupted his studies temporarily to work in set design, and for a short time he worked with Marcel Marceau. Upon graduating, he became an art teacher and as a teacher, Delacroix dabbled in several different styles of painting. With time, he established the one style that is attributed uniquely to him. Delacroix is recognized as one of the most important primitive artist of our time. Delacroix has had numerous one man shows as well as group exhibitions all over Europe. He was also an official artist of the Olympic Games. Delacroix has also received numerous awards in recognition for his outstanding primitive style of painting. Delacroix's primitive style in his paintings and graphics combines structure and detail with rich color to convey the bustling, diverse activity within the streets of Paris. Delacroix's subjects include street scenes of Paris and other nearby areas of France set during his childhood during the Nazi occupation; he was only seven years old at the time.

This colored lithograph measures approximately 34.75” (w) x 28.75” inches (h), and is professionally matted and framed.

It is hand-numbered in roman number 'XXIX/C' ('29/100') in the lower-left corner and hand-signed ' Michel Delacroix' in the lower-right corner.
