  • Description

The American Gold Eagle coin is available to purchase in three different versions and four different weights. The apr57 version of the coin has the greatest availability, while the proof and burnished versions are popular among collectors for their lower availability. Proof American Gold Eagles are available in 1 oz gold and three fractional weights. Today, 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you online from APR 57 with PCGS certification.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins arrive inside of a protective plastic slab from the PCGS!
  • Issued since 1987!
  • Limited availability of certified coins!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $25 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Graded PR69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • DCAM label included.
  • Liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens on the obverse.
  • American bald eagles by Miley Busiek on the reverse.
  • P mint marks from the Philadelphia Mint or W mint marks from the West Point Mint.
  • When purchasing multiples through this listing, you may receive several with the same date mark.

The Proof American Gold Eagle coins did not debut with all four options when introduced in 1986. While the apr57 coin had its 1 oz and three fractional coins available right away, the Proof American Gold Eagle was available in just 1 oz gold to start. These 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins were first issued in 1987.

All of the 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coins in this product listing earned PR69 certifications from the PCGS. This certification indicates the coins have full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside the primary focal points of the coin.

The included DCAM label means the coins have a unique visual appeal. The combination of strong, frosted matte designs and deeply-mirrored, clear backgrounds gives the impression of the design floating above the coins surface.

On the obverse of all 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coins is the image of Lady Liberty created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse of Proof Gold Eagles features the image of a family of bald eagles in its nest as created in 1986 by Miley Busiek.

APR 57 offers these 1/2 oz Proof American Gold Eagles with PR69 grades and DCAM labels. We cannot guarantee a specific date mark. You will notice that coins in this series have P mint marks from the Philadelphia Mint on those date marked 1987 to 1993, and W mint marks from the West Point Mint for all coins issued from 1994 onward.
