  • Description

Copper products are increasingly popular at the moment in the precious metal industry, but remain largely under the radar as the prices of gold and silver spiked in recent years. Today, private mints are capitalizing on the demand for copper with innovative and unique products that highlight American currency history. Right now, the 1 oz $5 Banknote Copper Bar is available from APR 57.

Bar Highlights:

  • Contains 1 AVDP oz of .999 pure copper.
  • Arrives in an individually wrapped plastic case or boxes of 500.
  • Obverse design inspired by the 1899 $5 silver certificate from the US Mint.
  • Reverse features the replica of the original $5 bill.
  • Minted at a private facility in the United States.
  • Available to you in brand-new condition.

Long before President Abraham Lincoln graced the obverse of an American $5 bill, a Native American Chieftain was chosen as the representative of the nation on its five-dollar bill. The 1899 $5 Silver Certificate from the United States Mint was the first in US history to feature the likeness of a Native American.

Like many other banknotes from the US Mint at this time, the 1899 $5 Silver Certificate was printed through the early 1920s before being gradually phased out of circulation. On the obverse face of that original banknote is the image of Chief Running Antelope, leader of the Hunkpapa tribe of Lakota Indians. Though he was the first Native American on US currency, Chief Running Antelope never lived to see his likeness in circulation as he passed away in 1896.

On the obverse face of these copper bars youll find an exact replica of that 1899 $5 Silver Certificate. All of the details are the exact same as the original banknotes, which can still be found today in a variety of conditions.

The reverse face of the bar also features the original image used on that $5 bill from the US Mint. One interesting note about its design is the use of the Roman numeral V in certain instances in place of either 5 or Five to denote the face value.

Each of the 1 oz Copper Bars available to you today comes from a private facility in the United States of America, and ships to you in brand-new condition.

This particular bar comes in uncirculated, brand new condition, which further enhances its value and collectible nature.
