John Pitre "Israeli Martyrs" 1972 Olympic,Print,Signed, Framed -$1.5K APR VALUE
This work honors the eleven Israeli athletes killed by terrorists during the Munich Olympic games in 1972, creating a new paradigm shift not seen before in modern times. Horrific misguided protest with international implications. In the background, the image of a magnificent athlete rises out of the mountains, holding gold rings that symbolize the Olympic games. The martyred athletes in the foreground watch the lead runner, caries the traditional torch from ancient Greece, signaling the beginning of the Olympic Games. But the torch is unlit, for this time there will be no Games for them. Each of the columns they pass represents one of the Olympiads from its origin, until those ill-fated games in Munich. Elegantly rendered with spectacular visual effect, this piece is perfect to ornament a fine dining room or any of your beautiful spaces.
About the artist: Born in 1942 and educated in the fine arts at the prestigious Art Students League in New York City, John Pitre evolved to become a Master of Fantasy and Surrealism. Pitre has been a significant influence in the art world for over forty (40) years, and carries the distinction of being one of the most widely published artists in modern history. Looking beyond the surface and into the depths of his artwork, you enter the mind and soul of one of Humanity's greatest thinkers and philosophers. Through his social commentary and visionary creations, he shares his vision of our purpose in the universe - to live and act as moral beings and stewards of our planet. He encourages us to achieve our dreams and aspirations, holding dear the relationships we have with the rest of Humanity.
Pitre's work is transcendental in nature. Many who marvel at his artwork derive their own profound, private meaning. Those who describe Pitre's works convey moments of epiphany and inspiration sparked by the etherial mind and soul of this Master of Fine Art. (John Pitre Website, April 2022)
