This is an original RIAA Platinum Sales Award commemorating the sale of more than one million copies of the Backstreet/MCA Records long playing record album “Hard Promises” by American rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This Gold Sales Award was presented to Frank Barsalona, an American talent agent and founder of the first major rock and roll booking agency in the United States, in 1981. This piece of music memorabilia in in excellent condition and is professionally framed with a dark gray mat and a silver painted wooden frame. Overall, the dimensions are approximately 17.5" (wide) x 20.5" (high).
Hard Promises is the fourth studio album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released on May 5, 1981 on Backstreet Records. This was the second Tom Petty album on the Backstreet Records label. Hard Promises was the last full album to feature bassist Ron Blair until Mojo. He was replaced by Howie Epstein, who continued to play until declining health due to heroin addiction led him to resign In 2002. In 2000 it was voted number 968 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums.
