Though a few of the releases over time have not used this design tactic, most bars offer opposing views of the same design element on the obverse and reverse. In many cases, the obverse design offers one viewpoint while the reverse captures the same scene from a different angle and reveals more to the design.

In the case of the Year of the Rat design, you will find more of the rats features available when you view the bar design from the reverse. You will also get a different view of the coin that the rat is holding in its front paws.

The obverse of 10 Gram PAMP Suisse Lunar Rat Silver Bars includes the image of the rat standing on the top edge of a stone wall. Here, the rat stands on its hind legs and is shown holding a small ancient coin in its front paws. The coin has four Chinese symbols on its surface and contains a square-shaped hole in the center.

On the reverse of 10 Gram Lunar Rat Silver Bars is that same design from another angle. This time, you are looking at the rat from behind. This viewpoint allows you to see the other side of the coin the rat is holding and you can see the long tail of the rat.
