On the obverse of the 2012 Burnished American Silver Eagle is one of Americas most iconic coin designs. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this vision of Liberty was originally used on the obverse of the 50-cent piece until 1947.

The reverse of all Burnished American Silver Eagle coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. Based upon the Great Seal of the United States, this design features a bald eagle with the national shield on its chest. In its right talon, it holds the arrows of war, but its beak is turned toward its left talon where it clutches the olive branch of peace.

All Burnished American Silver Eagle coins come from the United States Mint. Struck by the West Point Mint facility, the reverse side of the coins includes a W mint mark to denote its mint of origin.
