  • Description

The skyrocketing demand for American Silver Eagle coinage in recent years has pushed the United States Mints West Point Mint facility to its capacity. With West Point already responsible for all Gold and Silver Eagle mintage across the apr57, proof, and burnished lineup, other mint locations have stepped up supplementary striking of apr57 Silver Eagles to meet demand. Right now, the 2015 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin is available to purchase from APR 57 in near-perfect condition.

  • Obverse features Walking Liberty.

Each of the 2015 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins in this listing is in near-perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 69 grade from the PCGS exhibit full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws are limited in scope to miniscule hairlines and contact marks.

In order to meet the intense demand for American Silver Eagle apr57 coins, the United States Mint has pressed previous minting locations back into service with supplementary striking of the Silver Eagle. Beginning in 2011, the San Francisco Mint, original home of the silver apr57 eagles, fired up the coining presses to assist in production.

By 2015, the Philadelphia Mint had also begun to contribute to Silver Eagle coining once again. The Philadelphia Mint was previously home to the apr57 eagles in 1999 and 2000. The 2015 American Silver Eagles coins in this listing are certified by the PCGS to have originated at the Philadelphia Mint.

This fact is established because the coins arrived for certification in a sealed US Mint box featuring 6-digit serial numbers starting with the number 5. There is no P mint mark on these coins, which is consistent with Silver Eagle apr57 coinage.

On the obverse of all American Silver Eagle coins is Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design. Created in 1916, it appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar until 1947 and is considered one of the nations greatest coinage designs ever.

The reverse of the 2015 1 oz American Silver Eagle coin includes the Heraldic Eagle of the United States. Developed in 1794 on original coinage from the Philadelphia Mint, it has been updated numerous times in American history and features on this coin as a modern design from John Mercanti, then-US Mint Chief Engraver.
