As a global pandemic rocked stock markets around the globe in March 2020, investors flocked to the safe haven of gold and silver. The result was intense demand for the 2020 American Silver Eagle that led to the West Point Mint selling out its on-hand 2020 Silver Eagles within roughly 10 days of the onset of market volatility. The pandemic later forced the West Point Mint to reduce staffing for employee safety and then close for a week in April 2020. The Philadelphia Mint stepped in to assist with an emergency issue strike of 2020 American Silver Eagle coins.

All of the 2020 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins in this product listing come with an NGC certification. The Mint State 69 grade indicates the coins have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin.

The included Early Release label from the NGC denotes the arrival of the coins for grading. This certification from the NGC indicates the coins were received for grading within 30 days of their release from the Philadelphia Mint.

On the obverse of 2020 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. This image of Liberty comes from Adolph A. Weinman and was created in 1916. The reverse face of the 2020 1 oz American Silver Eagle includes the heraldic eagle of the United States as created in 1986 by John Mercanti.

These 2020 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins are part of an allotment of 240,000 coins the Philadelphia Mint produced in a two-week window of April 2020 to supplement reduced coining capacity at the West Point Mint. The coins do not bear a mint mark, but did come from Monster Boxes linked to the Philadelphia Mint by markings and serial numbers.
