An original typed letter written in French and signed by French philosopher, author, and journalist, Albert Camus. The letter dates from May 14, 1958 in Paris and is addressed to Seymour Lawrence from The Atlantic Monthly and thanks him for the copy of the magazine he received and congratulates him for the content of the issue. The letter is in excellent condition and are signed ‘Albert Camus’ in black ink and are framed altogether with a photograph with a beige mat in a black wooden frame.
Albert Camus (1913 -1960) was a French philosopher, author, and journalist. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 44 in 1957, the second-youngest recipient in history. His works include The Stranger, The Plague, The Myth of Sisyphus, The Fall, and The Rebel. Camus was born in French Algeria to Pieds Noirs parents. He spent his childhood in a poor neighborhood and later studied philosophy at the University of Algiers. He was in Paris when the Germans invaded France during World War II in 1940. After the war, he was a celebrity figure and gave many lectures around the world.
